Why should the line on a graph go through the origin?

i know it doesnt have to but my teacher wants me to put why it does.

Because it looks pretty to the eyes. That and its a solution to all real numbers. Cool. Do you have an access code for a chemistry book because I need one. If the X and Y intercepts are both zero, the line will go through the origin (0,0).
