Ricardo Mayorga going to mma?

I'm pretty interested on how this will go, if he will make it to the big leages ect.

I'd love to see this. I think he has a good punchers chance, he boxing ability will be way above anyone he faces, its just going to come down to whether he can avoid getting into a wrestling match long enough to catch someone with a good right hand or left hook.....plus he's crazy, so it will be exciting.

A ton of people on these forums always talk about how long a guy would have to train to be good enough at wrestling or JJ to compete in MMA at a high level, but I think there is a real trend going on where guys can focus their training on avoiding takedowns and staying tight against submissions, and they can be sucessful. You see a lot of wrestlers who basically are one-dimensional in their strengths that are very successful, and I think that if boxers focused sort of counter-training it could be even better - the simple fact is, if you are standing you probably aren't going to get caught in a submission.

it's difficult to know, as mma is a different discipline, and boxers do not fare too well there.
