How do you think think he'll do?

Please only serious answers, i dont want any discussions on how "Boxing is dead" or "Boxing Sucks" type of comments.

Mixed Martial Art's puts on great fights, rather it be the UFC,WEC,or IFL whichever organization it is the fights tend to be very entertaining. Ricardo Mayorga is a entertaining boxer so I think he can defiantly attract some attention to his MMA career. I don't know exactly how successful he will be, but having him on a card can spark some interest as well as ticket sales.

Ricardo Mayorga has recently filed for a law suit agents Don King, which leads me to believe he probably is having financial issues. With that being the motivate its pretty obvious what he's doing. Mayorga is no long relevant in Boxing and he's using Mixed Martial Arts as a way to make more money.

I like Mixed Martial Arts but I really have to question its seriousness when I see certain people joining the sport, because now its starting to turn into a fad or the cool thing to do. When i see guys like Jason David Frank the actor who played the Green Power Ranger, Bobby Lashley a former WWE Wrestler, Brock Lesnar former WWE Wrestler,Kyle Maynard MMA's 1st fighter with an Amputee, Kimbo Slice a Backyard YouTube fighter and then last but not least Ricardo Mayorga. Its getting to the point where you cant even take the sport serious, if they think they can compete with Boxing they have a long way to go.

First I heard of it, I guess Mayorga is going after some extra $$ the hard way. MMA is no joke, it's a dangerous sport, if Ricardo doesn't have skills, he will be exposed quickly. Still, other than Ray Mercer, Mayorga is just about the biggest name from Boxing to go MMA, it will make for an interesting fight.

One little comment to what Normen said!

Kimbo a backyard fighter as you graphically said, choked (to death if referees did not stop him) an old world boxing champ who was a golden medalist and he proved that boxers in a street fight can lose from any street fighter who has balls (and of course will not be stupid enough to stand and trade punches with the boxers)

When some Navy seals used to tell me stuff like that for Boxers and street fighting i got MAD!

As time goes by i see that is the truth!

Vitali Klitschko,an ex Kickboxer has dominate HW division so easily!

I think the big majority of Americans call Kickboxing a joke sport as well (for the obvious reason that 99,99999999999999% of Kickboxing champs are non Americans)!

To make a long story short, let's just not compare oranges with apples and let's respect every sport and every athlete!

Your question is good and reasonable and i think that Mayorga moving to MMA style is like a good tennis player like Andy Roddick to move in table tennis,i would not give him many chances of him doing great in his new sport,i mean they both include rackets (like MMA and Boxing both include gloves) but there are so many differences really!

Do not let this victory of Mercer over the DONE fat Silvia fool you,put Mercer vs any decent wrestler , we will have Mercer vs Kimbo number 2!

To be honest, i think Mayorga will KO any top UFC fighter, take a look at chuck liddell , he was a boxer and dominated UFC for years, now lets take a real boxer like Ricardo Mayorga, imagine what he will do? he will probably literally kill some of the top guys in the "octagon"

I felt he was mediocre fighter in boxing and since he couldn't make it to the elite level in boxing anymore he is making the transition to MMA.

I just think he is too careless to compete using those small 4 oz gloves.

I hope he does good, but I don't think he will go far.
