Sounds plenty old enought. Airhogs makes so pretty cool rc heli's, they are also easy to control. They use a duel propeler type technology to make it easy to control and durable

No clues as to her interests other than doesn't like helicopters. My wife and I once gave a tool kit (hammer, screwdriver, pliers, etc.) to an 8 year old that got Winnie the Pooh the previous year and she was delighted. Cooking? Clothing? Crafts? Hands on? Trip to Michaels or Hobby Lobby with $50 in hand to buy somethings new to try?

That's old enough, get one of those "indestructable" ones though, cause they can get broken easily.
