what do you get a 10 year old girl and a 12 year old boy besides clothes?
A friend's children have a birthday on the same day and I am invited to the party. The girl will be 10 and the boy will be 12. I have no idea what their sizes are so clothes are out. What else should I get?
Well my "friend" is actually a student that speaks basic English. I have been helping him for about a year. I have asked him but he doesn't seem to know and his wife hardly speaks English at all. I have only met his children a few times so I have no idea what they are "in to". Just looking for a general idea.

jewelry, if she has pierced ears do NOT buy her earrings, ive met people who cant wear silver or metal or something.
but necklace, bracelet, ring
makeup! not like real but maybe one of those sets where you can design on a practice pad and she can wear it for special occasions? but check with parents first, they might not want that.
books maybe just for the girl
one of those diy books? like origami or clutz?
get her a card to get a record deal if she has a good voice.
pain t and easel
nail polish
gift card to claires?

That's tough. I would go with what they're interested in but since you don't know... I would not assume that a first generation immigrant family has bought ipods for their kids. So, I would nix that advice. Maybe a gift card for a movie theater? I think pretty much everyone likes movies. I know that everyone loves candy but I wouldn't get candy because the parents might not appreciate that. A lot of parents don't want their kids eating a lot of candy.

Girl- Scince she's about 10 i say get her a little purse or hand-bag that she can carry with her. Or if she's stil into dolls then get her dolls.
Boy- Boys at this age (12) are more relavant to "older" boys things. i think you should get him somthing simple like a hat. I have some boy friends and they love hats ! But once again if he doesnt like hats get him like a model car of some sort.

Don't get them books, trust me they don't want them. For the boy, well most kids have iPods, get him a iTunes gift card. For the girl, go to the dollar store and buy various types of candy and make kind of like a candy arrangement in a basket or something, or do it for both. All kids like candy, very few kids want to read in their spare time.

What are their interests? Presumably you know these kids pretty well so you should know what they might like.
Books?
DVDs?
CDs?
Games? (Board/video/computer [assuming you know what systems they might own])
Craft supplies?
