Patches and gum and a lot of willpower are the only things that will work:throw out ash trays, lighters tobacco cigarettes :an thing that reminds you of them
Stay away for a while from places where there is a lot of smoking going on

Gum can stave off the nicotine cravings temporarily, but isn't a long-term solution. If you go "cold turkey," the physical withdrawal symptoms will be over in 3-4 days. It's the behavior - the ingrained habit - that takes more time and effort to change.

Try adjusting your thinking and motives: By quitting, you're not "giving up something pleasurable;" you said yourself that it's become expensive and you're tired of it. Instead, what you're doing is "adopting a new habit (not smoking) which is healthy for yourself and wise for your wallet."

As a practical incentive, try this: Figure up how much you'd spend smoking over six weeks. Then quit, verbally reminding yourself at least daily of the above rationale for having adopted your new, healthy habit. At the end of the six weeks, reward yourself and/or your loved one(s) with some appropriate gift or indulgence worth the amount you've saved.

Finally, just do it. No amount of "planning" to quit "tomorrow" is going to get you to actually quit.

Good luck. And don't lose heart if you fall off the wagon: many people "quit" multiple times before they really quit for good.

- hey produce guy !

- I know that this is gonna sound real lame, but the only real way 2 quit smoking is by really wanting 2 quite & by stopping all together no matter what.
- if U really do wanna quit, U're gonna, & if U're just saying it because U THINK U mite quite, then U won't.
- I quit just like that for 6 years now, even though t was real hard at first.
- I found that if I suck on hard candies like life savers or peppermints [that kinna thing] it help a lot.
- I still think about it sometimes especially when I'm around people who do smoke, but then I think of what it use 2 be like & it passes real quick, lol.
- wishing U all the best of luck on U trying 2 quit bud.
- good luck & happy new year

- O & nicotine gun taste like crap & the patch is more expensive than the darn cigarets & it doesn't work.

First, you have to "want to quit". That feeling must be very srong.
Cold turkey is the best, cheapest, and most effective way to go.
The physical withdrawal symptoms are done in 72 hours. After that it is a mind game.
Find some sugarless mintd or lifesavers (butterscotch worked for me) that you really like, and keep them on and around you at all times. Toothpicks can help with the oral fixation. Throw out everything to so with smoking. In two weeks you should be over the worst of it both physically and mentally.

nicotine patches get you very shaky and the gum just doesnt work, its a bunch of placebo's go see your doctor on a quit smoking pill, it really works because it makes your body gag when you smell the smoke and taste really bad if you do smoke. after being disgusted by the cigar you will start to reject it and in about a month youll be absolutely fine and smoke free
