my neighbor got cps called on her by the hospital...?
she had cps called on her by the hospital because supposedly they found traces of marijuana in her newborn's system. she says she hasn't smoked in about 2 months and she said she gets drug tested and she has been coming up negative. how is it that they found it in her baby's system if its not in hers? i said maybe it lasts longer in your blood then urine, but i really don't know much about it... anyone know?? please don't be all judgmental in your answers, no one is perfect, and everyone makes mistakes.

marijuana itself doesn't stay in your system but the main chemical THC does, it can be detected in a frequent user via blood test for up to 2 weeks since she last used, with a newborn it can take up to 60 days plus since she last used for their system to be detoxed
I don't know a lot about drugs, My daughter works in a Max. security prison as a guard. There are random blood test taken often. Drugs stay in your blood & hair (sounds silly but it's true) longer than in the urine. I'm am not judging here(truly) but everything a mother eats, drinks, smokes, or takes as medicine goes straight to the baby. I hope the little thing isn't addicted, it's a horrible thing to see. Infants can't help anything, they are totally dependent & they suffer from our mistakes. If traces are in the babies blood she was smoking quite a bit & probably quit less than 2 months ago. I can see you are her friend, the best thing you can do for her is get her help. She won't stop by herself. I don't know much but I know it gets worse instead of better if you don't get it taken care of. God be with you both & the baby, all of you are & will continue to be in my prayers..
That's kind of a hard question. Honestly not to be mean maybe your friend was lying. It takes a month for weed to get out of your system the baby would be no different. She needs to go to rehab to show the court she is trying so they won't take her baby....I wish you all the best...good luck
The hospitals deal with this all the time. They would know exactly how long it's been in her system. She might say it's been two months but the tests don't lie. There are plenty of people out there who have lost jobs because of tests such as this. It holds up in court so your friend has some explaining to do.
How old is the newborn? Was this when it was very first born, because then it was from in utero and still in the baby's system. I don't feel sorry for your friend, she can make all the mistakes she wants on her own, but smoking weed when you are pregnant is just rotten.
