One word..AWESOME! It is a great area of Seoul to stay in and yes, the hotel is "connected" to the mall. The is the largest underground shopping mall in all of Asia, so you don't need to go outside for anything...if you don't want to. However, if 50 million Koreans aren't afraid of the cold, why are you? You didn't say what time of year you would be going to Korea, but it is crazy hot in the summer too. As for being far from other tourists sites, that doesn't matter either because there is a subway stop right at the mall and you can get all over the city very easily by subway.

But it's
1. Far from the city centre
2. Far from other attractions
3. Has bad shopping (Myeong-Dong and Apgujeong are way better)
4. Is over-run with Korean children
5. Is ungodly expensive for what you actually get at the hotel

Stay in a love motel or something! They are way more fun, offer everything ensuite (fridge, big screen tv, computer, beverages, and whirlpools)

Good luck!

The Intercontinental Coex does have good reviews. Please see: http://www.hoteltravel.com/south_korea/seoul/coex_intercontinental.htm#reviews

My co-worker, who used to live in Seoul, stated that the area is excellent for shopping and dining (known as a "date spot").

go to BookMe. You can compare prices on all the major travel sites from one location. It's the only way you can guarantee the best deals for the best hotels for your money online.
