Does opposing their OWN policies when Obama proposes them prove that Republicans are being obstructionists?

Some senior Republican strategists and party veterans are beginning to fret that the party's refusal to work with President Obama, even when he crosses onto their own philosophical turf, could ultimately erode some of the political gains they've made this past year.
Over the past two weeks, Republicans in Congress have united in nearly unanimous opposition to a series of ideologically conservative policy suggestions, starting with a commission to reduce the deficit, a pay-go provision that would limit new expenditures, and a spending freeze on non-military programs.

Yes. Yes, it does.

It is clear to see that the Republicans of our current Congress have only one agenda - to block President Obama at every turn.

This is not what politicians are elected to do. This is not a football game, and I, for one, am very tired of the "sports team" mentality.

Our members of Congress have a JOB - just like you and I have a job. And that job is to create legislation which makes a better America.

They aren't doing that.

Nonsense. That is just the Left trying to persuade Moderate Republicans to commit suicide. If it was even remotely true that something the Republicans are doing would harm their chances at election, the last people who would be advising them to stop are the people on the Huffington Post.

The reality is, the Democrats have way overplayed their hand. They are realizing now that they have gone "all in" with 9,8 off suit and that the Republicans are probably going to call.

Cutting to the case, here is the situation. In the early 1990's Democrats had the Bill Clinton in the White House and both Houses of Congress. They tried to pass "hillary care" health care reform. Next election, the Republicans took over Congress for the first time in 40 years. They won 40 seats. And that was without the Democrats trying to cram it down anyone's throat. One of the biggest complaints that angered the voters? Secrecy in the writing of the Bill.

So what have we before us now? Well, I an old enough to remember that back then and let me tell you, the voters were no where near as angry and frustrated by the Democrats then as they are now. Despite all the rhetoric, the Democrats now realize that they have really screwed up. They are going to do everything they can to try to prevent the Republican Party from electing real Conservatives. The only chance Democrats in unsafe seats (in the house that number is about 150 in the Senate it is 18) is if their Republican Candidate is not a true Conservative. If he is they stand no chance of reelection.

That is the reality. The threat is not Republicans, it is Conservatives.

BTW- Obstructing this agenda is exactly the right thing to do if you are a Patriotic American.

First, I truly believe Obama is a genius. Now, that being said I also respected Bush too.

Here's what's smart about Obama...he gos on TV for the state of the union and basically agrees to republican demands. The agreement was probably hollow and disengenuine but it was prestented to the American people as genuine and a great thing. Republicans looked like partisan mongerers sitting, refusing to clap at their own goals. This is what Obama wants.

See right now Michael Steele's plan is to make Obama and Dems look like hipocrits (from his book Right Now). But Obama and Dems eveidently read this book and can do the same. See Obama's original plan was to have some kind of bipartisan congress, where a bill presented by a leading political group could still receive input from the minority party. That's why other minority parties are represented in this years congressional bills. But instead of supporting this the Republican plan was to fight against it to create an "Obama failure". The problem is it doesn't matter if Obama fails at say heatlh care or bipartisanship, that didn't keep Clinton from being reelected.

The Republicans look like fools and they are letting Obama lead them into the stupid chair.

Well your right as it is a set up to make the Republican party look like obstructionists.Obama is not trying to be bi partisan. He is trying to dictate terms and ostracize the republicans as obstructionist, yet He cant even get His own party together to pass much with a majority.
As far as the Huff and Puff post,I don't put much stock in that rag.

Which rules might that be? If any Senator have been to introduce a valid coverage, that did no longer contain billions of greenbacks of bribes and kickbacks, in line with danger the Republicans does no longer be so adamantly against them. A $one hundred,000,000 grant to a secret facility, in a secret state, just to confirm a constructive vote on wellness Care, which grow to be rather only an attack on the coverage marketplace, and had no longer something to do with rather reforming wellness care. all the palm-greasing that grow to be happening with Reid's wellness-Care invoice may well be unlawful if it befell everywhere outdoors of Washington, D.C., and long federal penal complex sentences might ensue. yet whilst Obama's token white guy comes on television, and calls it " compromise, " it is going to be ok. enable's see the fool In chief develop a backbone, and positively start up working in the direction of classes which will benefit the yankee public, and probably Republicans will end being " Obstructionists? " only % to show, whilst George Bush grow to be President, and the Democrats did the right comparable element, the place grow to be the widespread public outcry of " Obstructionist?? " whilst Clinton wiped clean homestead of Federal prosecutors, a number of whom have been investigating Democrats, no longer a peep, yet whilst President Bush fired 8, the clicking went berserk. whilst Joe Wilson referred to as out that a liar grow to be mendacity, he grow to be censured, and categorised a racist. whilst President Bush addressed the Senate, all the Democrats booing, and hissing decrease than their breath grow to be no longer deemed a breach of suited protocol. whilst whiny liberal democrats lay off the double-standards, in line with danger they'll benefit slightly understand, yet till then, they'll proceed to be of their modern status... astonishing liars, and spineless cowards.
