Try a local animal shelter - they always appreciate it when people can take some of the dogs for a walk.
You might be able to read stories to kids in the hospital, or at your local library's story time.
Find out about any local tree-plantings and stuff like that.

If you like, you could start your own kind of unofficial volunteer organisation for you and your friends. Each weekend (or however often you like) you can choose an activity that you'd like to do and just go out as a group and do it (with your parent's permission, of course!). Things you can do might include: picking up rubbish (wear gloves), pulling weeds at your local park or around local waterways (be careful around water), take a couple of bunches of flowers to an old peoples home to cheer up the residents. Ummmm.....you could help clean up your school or start a vegetable patch there.

If you're finding it hard to get things done with just your friends, you'll probably have a lot more luck if you involve one or two parents (or other adults). If a parent comes with you somewhere, you're more likely to get your foot in the door and be able to help out.
