well they can administer it 2 ways
-by injection
-by mask

either way they will be giving you an IV in your arm or back of your hand. an IV is a tiny tube that they can give you fluids, anesthesia, pain meds, and other meds.the IV is inserted by using a needle so you will have to have a needle prick whether you like them or not.

just try to relax and you'll do fine.

i don't think so when i had an operation they put an oxygen mask on me and i think the anesthesia went through there. you won't be able to see anyway if they use a needle probably plus your asleep within about ten seconds, they do put a needle in your hhand normally though but they put on special cream to numb the area slightly.... well i think thats what happens anyway! sorry im not much help! x

Yes, most anesthesia today is given with a needle. However, if you are that frightened, you can speak with your doctor and perhaps he or she can give you something by mouth to relax you prior to administration of the anesthesia.
