Does the Behr Premium Deck Stain last as long as stated?

I'm in the middle of my deck project and have purchased some of the Behr product but found my brother had some problems with it chipping and flaking. Anyone have any experiences with this stuff?

Tex is right. Your surface to be covered has to be very clean & any old finishes either have to be well adhered or completely removed prior to not only Behr products, but any other labels as well. Any unclean surface will reduce adhesion drastically. Just read the manufacturers instructions, in their entirety, & you should have no problems at all. Not only am I an avid backer of Behr products for the past 30 years, but I also live only about seven miles from one of their plants. They're a good product if used correctly...Best of luck to you & your project...

Behr Premium Deck Stain

Behr is a very good product. I don't like it so much for interior since I find it a little heavy for brushwork, but for exterior I'd use it any time. Had Behr solid colour stain on my last house and it looked good ten years later. I just used one of their semi-transparent stains on a customer's deck, a new one that is water-based and has nano-technology, sorry, can't remember the name. The deck was mostly weathered clean but still had some patches of the old stain left, and it ended up looking very good after one coat. We would have done two but the weather didn't co-operate. When it was dry the next day, water splashed on it just beaded up. It covered very well, went on easy, went pretty far for coverage, and that combined with Behr's reputation and my experience with their products will have me using it again.

"GENERALLY" problems like that are the result of inadequate preparation and/or application. Make sure you read and follow the manufacturers instructions totally to the letter.
