why does my daughter hit herself?

my 21 month year old daughter hits/pinches herself. The pinching for no reason at all and usually she hits herself after I tell her not to hit me.

Her development is otherwise totally normal, advanced in some areas and right on track on others.

I never spank her or for gods sake pinch her so I am not sure where she learned this. I asked this question about 5 months ago and people said to just ignore it and she would stop but it has been 5 months and it has not stopped. I have a call into her MD but I just wondered if anyone else may have an idea?

You should go to the doctor and test to see if she has a mental disease that she could have been born with.

i do no longer know lots approximately this count, yet I do have 2 autistic cousins and function worked with a great form of autistic toddlers and that i've got observed that as quickly as they get agitated they hit themselves on the top. i'm no longer attempting to stress you and that i know your daughters habit must be related to, yet you certainly ought to get her to a physician. Has she had any developmental problems? you ought to take her to work out her customary wellness practitioner and her wellness practitioner will refer you to a developmental professional if mandatory. i do no longer think of that's a sort of self harm- that variety of ingredient does not advance so early. this type of ingredient is uncomplicated in babys who've finished pass, yet have not got verbal skills yet. They do this, in actuality, to precise their frustration by way of fact they have not got the words to verbalize it. This does replace into worrisome if a infant who can communicate is doing this type of ingredient...it must be a trademark of a few disease or developmental postpone. it must be no longer something, or it must be serious. you ought to make a docs appointment and not trouble till they provide you some thing to stress approximately- in the event that they provide you some thing to stress approximately. stable success. :)

i'd ask for them to test her for autism. my son used to hit himself on the head and wouldnt stop. he finally quit when i showed no reaction at all. i know all kids are not the same tho. try setting her down and explaining to her that its not good for her, and when she doesnt do it reward her?
