All of his army gear should be rolled tightly and packed in his A Bag, he should keep his Class A uniform in a garment bag to keep it semi-fresh and have it pressed and all new unit patches applied THE DAY AFTER he gets to his unit and is sure exactly what unit insignia he will wear. Any civillian clothes should be rolled and stashed with army gear, or packed in his garment bag, unless he wishes to spend the money to have an extra bag with him on the flight. Make sure all military ID, sets of orders, toiletries and maybe some entertainment items are in his carry on. Civillian clothing is cheap enough that he can do some shopping while he's there and have it sent home, or to his next duty station after his tour is complete.
