I am pregnant for the first time and want to do something special for my husband. He is in the Navy and has missed the first trimester, will be home most of the second, and will be gone for the third trimester, the delivery, and the first few months of the baby's life. He will be on duty (working the entire day) on Father's Day itself, but I really want to do something special the day before or something. Do you have any ideas?

Aww that sounds like a hard situation to be in :( Our respect to you and your husband for your sacrifice for our country! For something special, I would suggest a day together with a camera! Try to go to a beach, or a park with a garden or fountain, or somewhere you both find pleasant...take some pictures of eachother, and of you both together. Then as a present, get a BIG collage frame and print the pics out at a one hour photo lab. Go through them together and pick your favorites. You can hang this in your baby's room...that way even if Dad has to be gone, his smiling face will be there until he's home. Follow this up with a nice romantic dinner and maybe a movie. Another idea is maybe some nice cologne to wear, power tools, etc. (the typical man stuff!) Good luck and have fun!
When I was pregnant with our oldest, I gave my husband a letter that the baby "wrote". It talked about all the things the baby/child looked forward to doing with dad, etc. That baby is now eleven years old and her dad still has that letter. He pulls it out every once in a while to remind himself of all the hopes and dreams we had starting out as parents.
