What are some words that describe America?
I was thinking about this the other day, and what words--good or bad, describe America in its growth, development, and today's modern world?

Exceptional.
There are certain obstacles and hardships that are unavoidable everywhere in the world...except in America.
America is the only country to be founded in such a manner as it was, and the only real democracy and capitalism. Although our history and present are stained with imperfections, it is a country founded on free will, and the belief that freedom is given to you by your creator, not your government. As such, it cannot be taken away by anyone but your creator. ( or so it was supposed to be)
American exceptionalism...the fact, not just attitude, that you are better off simply by being born here, is what propelled the United States to super-power status in less than 150 years. It does not mean you are a better person, it just means you are, all things being equal, better off.
People say things are better in other countries. But this is only because they don't realize how much they have. Take someone from the worst ghetto in the Sates, and see how well they fare in a ghetto in France , Spain or Germany. Places where some "middle class" people can't even own refrigerators.
People are not exactly beating down the door to get into Greece. Must be a reason for it.
I wouldn't give up all of my freedom, privacy, property, employability, and ability to rise up, just to have "free" health care and a crappy military like every other country.

Actually, Citizen, Central America is a part of North America. So, to be more specific, we've got North America and South America.
