What is it called when the Scottish families & descendants of Scots meet in a gigantic outside meeting place?

This weekend in my neck of the woods, they just had the Scottish Highlander Games. A Gathering of the Clans. Too bad a certain organization gave the word "clan" (klan) such a stigma, because it's actually a very nice word.

Well such a meeting is called a Clan Gathering and can be held anywhere including indoors (Scotland is not noted for it's wonderful weather!), but as you stipulate outdoors are you thinking of Highland Games?....these are not usually restricted to one clan tho'.

addendum: There is also an event called a Mod but that is to celebrate Gaelic culture: poems, piping, dancing etc. and is not clan based.

and pishups are for 2 or more p***heads......not exclusively Scots let alone clan restricted!!!

Apart from the clan gatherings, there is another meeting of family members in Scotland known as a tryst.
