I want to buy a ps3 but im not sure?

I want to get the 20gb 1st generation because its backwards compatible with the ps2 and it's cheaper(i don't care about the "slim" and all the new features). Then I'm going to get a new hard drive with like 500gb of memory and replace it with the original. is that the cheapest way? also will i be able to get the updates(firmware i think its called) with a 1st generation model? thanks!

I would still go with the new Slim.Older PS3s from that range have been known to get the YLOD or the Yellow Light of Death. The PS3 you buy might get it,and because it's pre owned the warrenty is probably expired.
So go for the slim, because trust me,after you buy a PS3 game your PS2 games will seem extinct.

There are no other models available in stores today other than the slims. The fat ones are discontinued from production. If you want 60GB, then you have to get pre-owned with questionable condition. You don't need 500GB. It's way too much and it's gonna be too slow for the PS3 to process. Just get what's available in stores. You will not regret it.

i do no longer think of jailbreaking is worth it because of the fact who needs to have a console with offline play. i've got not got a great form of money the two so i do no longer purchase a game except it extremely is something i individually like. yet another ingredient I do to save money is wait 6 months to a year for the fee to pass down. whilst Tekken 6 first got here out it replaced into fifty 9.ninety 9 Canadian and that i bought it a year later type new for 15.
