What is the law on when 2 ex wives of a man that had disability dies. With survivors benefits, which woman?

gets the survivors benefits? They all are in New York. One is insistent that she will, since having been married to him longer. He wasn't married when he died..He had SSI and SSID

Was he on Supplemental Security Income? That's federal welfare, and no survivor benefits. If he was on Social Security Disability, and if he is the father of a minor child, the custodial parent will receive survivor benefits solely for the minor child. If the ex-spouse was married for over 10 years and is totally and permanently disabled or over 65, the spouse might get spousal benefits.

If he wasn't married to either woman when he died then neither one of them are eligible for survivors (widows) benefits. If either woman has a child/children under the age of 18 then the child/children are eligible for survivors benefits, but not the ex-wives.

They both can if they qualify.

1. they were married to him for 10 years or more.
2. they are themselves disabled or of retirement age or have minor children that he fathered.
3. he had enough work credits.

My father in law has 2 ex wives .. he was married to them both for over 10 years and they are both over 66 years old.

(I'm including benefits other than just survivors)

Ex's aren't eligible for survivor's benefits. They are no longer related to the man who died.
