Could a non-preditor be an intelligent animal?

You don't have to out fox grass to eat it.
Preditors, on the other hand, need to study and learn
in order to take down an animal that has avoidance instincts.
If for example humans had not been preditors,
but were vegitarians instead,
would they have evolved the same intelligence.

Don't mean to be rude but you get better answers when you ask in the appropriate category

Anyway I'm pretty sure that gorillas are among the smartest and they're herbivores. It's not just the primates either. Parrots are right up there too! Check out youtube under keas, the worlds smartest parrot and you'll be amazed.
