Every law like this should have a sunset provision.

The act affects several other acts, which needed revisions. Key acts changed were the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act of 1978 (FISA), the Electronic Communications Privacy Act of 1986 (ECPA), the Money Laundering Control Act of 1986 and Bank Secrecy Act (BSA), as well as the Immigration and Nationality Act.

So far, it doesn't look like the government has gone overboard in arresting innocent people and violating their rights, but then there may be rights violations going on that we don't know about and we don't know how it will be used in the future.

REPEAL it!!!! This is The United States of America for crying out loud.....

"He who would trade liberty for some temporary security, deserves neither liberty nor security."

Ben Franklin (probably being misquoted but the point is sound).

EDIT: There is one word for the Americans who feel "safer and better" with the Patriot Act in place. That word is "coward."

If I wanted to spend my life looking over my should not just from people out to do harm (which I have always dealt with).... but also looking over my should to see if my OWN government is skulking around... then I'd rather be in prison because there.... at least the food is free and I wouldn't be paying taxes for the privilege of being spied on by the recipient of the check.

nicely i propose in case you want to bypass into all the loopy state regulations that are at present nevertheless element of energetic legislature, thats gonna be a lengthy record... (minnesota: cant bypass the state line wearing a duck on ur head) loopy stuff like that. yet in case you propose severe federal regulations, id say that the vast majority of it isnt a lot regulations which will be repealed, its more advantageous issues which will be allowed. gay marriage, marijuana criminal, etc... and im a republican, so dont bypass assumin im some liberal @ss... and so a ideas as healthcare, it would in simple terms be repealed in the adventure that they are going to placed a more advantageous ideal bill in position... they want to noticeably make a bipartisan attempt to address healthcare...

Repealed? No.

Modified? Yes.

There are parts of the Patriot Act I believe are dubious at best, there are also parts that are necessary for national security.
