So what's the "HOT" toy for this Christmas?

Someone else asked a Christmas present question and it got me thinking about what the hot toy is for this year. I live in Germany and don't see many commercials since we generally watch the Armed Forces Network channels. I know last year the hot toy was the Zhu Zhu Hamsters and I'm thinking of buying some of those for my daughter who will be four. Since I'm overseas I need to start thinking about Christmas early as I usually order toys online - buying them on the German economy is not an option when a Barbie is 30 Euro's (seriously!)

I don't have to buy the latest and greatest thing, I'm just curious. However, I can afford whatever the latest and greatest thing through having a great career and smart money management. I'm actually helping you out by buying the latest and greatest thing since I'm increasing consumer spending, thereby spurring the economy and making your investments worth more.

Don't get her what's 'hot'. Get her something that will stimulate her imagination.

I actually dont know what the must have toy that people will fight eachother over this year.. I dont watch too much tv either so I havent seen anything yet..
I usually stay clear of them and if its something my kids like ( like the elmo doll few years back) I get it in february at 50% off when the stores are fully stocked and I dont have to be scared of someone threatening me with gunpoint at the parking lot. ( some guy got shot after an elmo doll fight broke out a few years back.. like seriously? your gonna shoot someone because they got the last elmo doll???)

edit and thats a bad price for a barbie man.. the regular not fancy ones are like $5 and the more 'collectables' are around $20. I think I've seen a $100 one too but really whose gonna buy a $100 barbie?

It's usually around mid-late November before we find out what it will be. That's why it will be "Hot". The manufacturer will only have so many to ship to stores, therefore relatively short supply.

who cares? buy what your child wants / likes. My 2 year old currently wants everything on every advert he sees, "Stinky" the garbage truck, sponsors one of the tv programmes he likes, so is advertised all the time - I said yeh santa will bring you that, then I priced it and its like £60 - £80!!

Do you really need to buy whatever toy is "hot" this year? seriously? are you just a blind follower of trends? for shame.

Get your daughter a big cardboard box. Best present ever. She can pretend it's a rocket, a car, a house. Heck, she can even draw on it and make doors for it.
