I have a 6month old puppy, She's pretty big already and a cross between a Rhodesian Ridge-back and a Staffordshire Bull Terrier. She's a total couch potato and spends most of her time lying across our laps chewing her favourite toys and sleeping, She's always twitches and moved around a lot while she's sleeping so we never really think much of it but today while sleeping she was twitching quite a lot more than normal and making some odd sounds. No one has seen her do this before and we're all really worried, Our Vets is closed today but we'll be calling them tomorrow to see what they think, This is just to see if anyone else has experienced it Also recently she has been off her food but not in the way that she isn't hungry because if we give her some of her treats she eats them quickly and she hasn't said no to the odd bit of cold meat. Is this because she doesn't like her food? She's still on puppy food so should we move her onto adult food?

HAHAHA chasing bunny rabbits! EPIC!
congrats on the new child! Sound like a beautiful dog! My lab and pointer mix both have had bad nightmares at times. Nothing to worry about. When it happens we pet our dogs to calm them. As long as things in her life is consistent, she eats well and gets exercise she should be fine. If it's the random nightmare here and there, it's not an issue. If the issue gets worse you may want to see what a vet says.
At the moment she needs to saty on puppy food. Dogs are considered puppies till around a year and 2 months. If she doesn't want her food then don't give her treats. Give her the food 2-3 times a day, leave it for 5-10 mimutes, if she doesn't eat in that time peroid take it away. Do this over and over. She will get hungry and have no choice but to eat. Just make sure to get her some quality food. We feed our dogs chicken soup for the pet lover's soul. EXCELLENT ingredients! Innova and wellness are also quality products. Most dog brands like Purina and eukanuba are not as good as people may think.
Your dog is just dreaming and some do that and seem very excited in their sleep. Nothing to worry about just relax The food issue is another thing. and bad habits are forming. Cut the treats or use dog food for treats, and put food down twice a day. If he doesn't eat take it up and wait several hours. Don't give treats till you get the dog back on his food. He will eat (a dog will not starve when offered food regularly) It will take a while but he will eat! don't feed Table food for a long time only after this is fixed..or it will never change.
First of all; nearly every dog dreams this way. My two staffies, a 10 month and a 5 year old, both twitch and moan. No need to go to a vet. Second; Yes, try moving a little bit onto adult food. I moved my pup onto some adult food at 4 months and he grew onto it. If your pups not adapting to this food, not to worry. Puppies are learning! This is a new world for them. But if it continues and seems to be a bit of trouble, turn to a vet for advice.
I have a 6yr old dachshund she also twitches and makes growling noises in her sleep. We took her to the vet when we first noticed it and they just said that she was chasing bunny rabbits in her sleep and that is was very normal for dogs to have dreams. As for the dog food... if all of your puppy's teeth are in then yes you do need to switch his dog food to adult dog food... i would start out with something that's not too hard for him like dog food for small adult dogs cause you don't want him breaking a tooth.
Its extremely obtainable she's 'remembering' waking up on my own after being abandoned. She may be remembering something worse. depart a mild on for her at night, in common terms a small night mild. Soothe her and inspire her. I even have discovered that in many cases it may take a number of years to artwork out each and all of the undesirable stuff a rescue might have experienced. supply her time and he or she'll love you extra stable than any domestic dog you ought to undertake. shop up the sturdy artwork and undertake yet another one once you may. I continuously have 2.
