I don't mean to sound flippant about your gastrointestinal distress, but when you're in your 60's in the ICU unit of your local hospital waking up after your coronary bypass surgery because you've just had a heart attack, you'd give anything at that moment to go back 30 years or so and eat all the broccoli you can, bloating be damned. I'd put up with some bloating now if I knew it could prevent a stroke or heart attack in the future, but that's just me. BTW, I like the Bean-o suggestion.

It is roughage, and if you are not used to eating a lot of it, then yes.
