He is an American rock musician, multi-instrumentalist, and singer-songwriter best known as the lead vocalist, rhythm guitarist, and primary songwriter for the Foo Fighters; the former drummer for Nirvana; the drummer for bands Them Crooked Vultures and Scream; and for his short-lived side projects Late! and Probot. He has also been involved with Queens of the Stone Age, and has performed session work for a variety of musicians, including Killing Joke, Tenacious D, Nine Inch Nails, The Prodigy, Slash and Juliette Lewis.
