This amp was produced during a time when Sherwood was more respected. Their Newcastle line of equipment made today is good. The amp is a heavy beast. The pre-amp that matched this amp is the AVP-8500G. Any pre-amp will do.

Hi Audio Enthusiasts,
Can anyone help me fixing my AM 8500G amplifier?
The problem is I can't play beyond 6 songs. On the 7th onward the sound is normal but ON & OFF the sound and when I checked the speaker terminal it occur (-)Neg. 22 V.D.C. on the positive speaker terminal. I like that amplifier because its has a powerful output but I dont know how long it will last. Like my problem now I'm looking for a great help fixing my amplifier.
Thanks in advance

Well I couldn't find any details specifications (200 watts @ 8Ohm) on line but found a "nudie" pic and it looks fairly heavily built. Sherwood has never been known as audiophile quality but I don't think it will sound too bad. Any good pre-amp will work.
