Lol, I am a former Marine and I think it is a wonderful idea for you to experience new things no matter what age you are. Your parents are just trying to protect you don't be so upset with them it's natural for them wanting to protect their child. The military isn't for everyone but the only way to know that is through experience. For me the Marine Corps was tough but one of the greatest experiences of my life, at times it became stressful and challenging but whenever we trained we trained hard so I was very confident I was better then my foe. Tell your parents that aside from what they see in the news the majority of the service members in the armed forces do not get killed and they do successfully complete their tours of duty. If they are still against it then you just tell them it's your duty and that you will love them whether they agree with you or not. My mother never wanted me in the service but I went anyways, someone has to do it.....
Well have a seat with your parents, tell them why you want to join. Tell them joining JROTC will allow you to sample military life. If they don't change their minds, I guess you can write down some class on your schduele (on pencil first!) and once they sign it change that class to JROTC and turn it in to the school. For one, your parents can't change the class for opinion-based reasons once its been approved so you can actually prove to them that this is what you want.
