Can I be treated for being too ticklish?
I've been extra-ticklish for as long as I can remember, and recently I've gotten more curious about the whole thing. I've been googling around and found out that it's called "hypergargalesthesia" but knowing what its name is doesn't help me much. I can't find a lot of other information about it.
I'm ticklish pretty much everywhere. I know lots of people enjoy being tickled and some people even have a fetish for it, but I do not. I hate it. I've had friends in the past that found out how ticklish I am and thought it was funny until I accidentally punched them in the face or kicked them or broke something nearby. I'm in a long-term relationship now and it can be an issue sometimes there too, as you can imagine.
I also can't stand when someone talks directly into my ear, like if I'm facing forwards and they are looking at me and talking. It's like it tickles my ear. Some people have a hard time remembering not to look at me while they're talking and I'm driving. I have the same problem when someone overenunciates certain consonants, like P, B, T, and S.
Ok so I'm a little screwed up I know but is there a way to treat this? Can I take pills for it?
It's really not funny. What do you mean by "toughen up"?
