Runescape - Tzhaar Fight Caves?

I'm looking for some advice for the Tzhaar Fight Caves in Runescape. You know, that place where you fight Jad and earn a Fire Cape.

My current levels are:

attack/strength/defense - 77
Constitution - 78
Range - 74
Magic - 78
Prayer - 70

Now, I don't want to fight and beat Jad. I know I'm not ready for that yet. Instead, I'm just trying to finish up the Hard Karajma Tasks and to do that I have to kill the Tzhaar enemy that shows up on Wave 31. (don't remember the exact name)

I went in with a super-set, 2 prayer pots and the rest of inventory filled with food. I used Dragon armor with a whip and Dragon defender. I made it to Wave 31 and immediately turned on Reflect Magic prayer when the enemy appeared, but he killed me instantly with his melee attack. He hit me for 375 pts and again for another 375 before I could eat.

So, any advice? Should I use a different setup? I prefer melee to range or magic but if I need to switch then what would be the best weapon to use to beat Wave 31 without spending a fortune.

Ok, so if I switch to range, which weapon & armor would be best? Obviously Diamond (e) but prefer to save money. Black Dragonhide and Broad Bolts be ok?

At your level it would probably be best to range, if you're on Runescape atm, you can PM me, my username is Nyan Jella.

Since you're just trying to kill the lvl 360, a good setup would be this:

Head: Helm of neitiznot/Archers helm
Neck: Fury/Glory/Ranging Ammy
Cape: Ava's Alerter/Accumulator/Attractor
Weapon: Rune Crossbow
Bolts: Broad
Body: Black D'hide
Legs: Black D'hide
Sheild: God Book/Any sheild
Gloves: Best gloves you can wear from Recipe For Disaster
Boots: Snakeskin
Ring: Archers/Any ring

Broad is the way to go

For the 360s, you can not melee them. Melee hits accurate 500s. Only way to kill them safely is range

For your stats, here is an optimal setup
veracs helm
karils top
verac skirt
avas backpack
unholy book or spirit shield
rune cbow (obviously)
gloves from RFD, snakeskin boots, archers ring

If you want to have a safty net for health, use a regen bracelet.

For waves 1-31, melee is the best way, however once you get to the giant healers, range may be faster. Use guthans if you need health, and always kill the 90s first.

TBH, as long as you have 70+ def, range, and guthans, fight caves are NOT hard at all.

You seem sane enough. If you need some more advice I can talk to you ingame when I get on later. My acc name is "wkw". I'll have private chat on for the rest of the day, but don't get on for about an hour

Most people who go into the caves use range. There's a little outcrop in the wall that's shaped like Italy if you look on the minimap. It makes a great safespot from melee allowing you to only have to pray against one attack form. If you want to use melee take a halibert & lure them over that way then reach out & touch them in ways that make them feel uncomfortable, LOL.
