My therapist wants me to be open an honest with him about what is on my mind~ but some of the thoughts are 0.o?

I'd like to open up completely without being hauled off to the psych ward, *I know sometimes that not 100% of my thoughts are rational* & last time I spoke to him he said I sounded angry but I might be grieving a loss... Anyway I don't like it when he can tell that I'm angry & I'm not yelling! I was trying very hard to be patient! Some of the thoughts I have are dark bad thoughts... But I know I can't follow them. But I'd rather not share them or dwell on them in therapy either you know? The fact is I don't want him to think of me in that light?! 8/

You are there for therapy, not friendship. Be honest or the help will be lackluster. You are better off not second guessing his intent, you may think he should judgmental when he may just want to spark introspection. Paranoia can make you respond to much more than is actually there and feelings of shame or guilt about what you feel makes you more normal than you may realize.

You have to be open and honest or it is pointless to need a therapist. If my therapist thinks my life is great, then there would be no point of going, since I apparently don't have a problem. The point of therapy is that you need help with things you can't do on your own, so being honest doesn't waste your time or theirs. If you are angry and grieving, then the therapist could help you instead of pretending that everything is fine when it isn't. The content of your words, calm or angry, probably give the clues, just like written words give the clues. You are going to a therapist, take advantage of that and learn all you can. Hes a therapist so he is trained to know how people are feeling based on their actions. Maybe you should completely open up to him it may help a lot. You should try it. Even if you have irrational thoughts you still know what is right and wrong. You sound like someone who is just going through a rough time. It will get better. :)

They're trained to deal with this stuff. And if he's been in practice for years, I'm sure he's seen and heard it all.
