Was there ever a decisive Portuguese military victory at a place that sounds like "Kuching"?

In the 2011 British TV show "Spy", what is the line that Marcus the kid says "I'm like the Persians at Thermopylae, the Portuguese at ..." It's a word that sounds like "Kuching", but I can't find any reference to a decisive battle there.

Beats the heck outa me . The Portuguese mapped Kuching, which was the capital of Sarawak in Borneo . But the British ruled it . Could just be a mistake . It's drama , not history .
