Two-Year-Old and saying 'L'...?

Question

My two-year-old was born with a very slight tongue-tie, it didn't impact her nursing at all so I didn't have  it clipped. I found out later it can impact speech. So far my 27month old speaks very well, she doesn't however use the letter "L" ie she says "Widdle" instead of little or "yah down" for lay down. The doctor wasn't concerned about speech when we last saw her... but I guess it never occurred to me that her tongue tie may impact her speech... I have heard it can stretch and my niece had something similar and is fine... I suppose I am too worried? Any advice?

At 2 years old not saying "l" is actually normal. I have twins boys and they didn't say L's properly until they were around 4. At first it was All ways the "w" sound instead of "L", then it was some things where the sound would come thru. Then one day just out of the blue they were saying L words perfectly.

When I was younger I couldn't say anything that had an S in it. I took some speech classes in 1st grade for an hour a week and haven't had trouble since :)

That's completely normal. By the time she's 5 or 6 she'll be saying her Ls just fine.

Go with the flow & don't overstress. Tackle the problem if it's actually a problem in a couple years.

all babies have speech problems. they dont pronounce every word correctly. but my cousin was tongue tied, and he talks fine.
