How can I turn DC to AC so I can run it through a transformer.?

I need to take a 2 DC volt system that may have heavy amperage, 3 to 5 to possibly10 amps, and I need to turn the DC voltage into AC to run it through a transformer to get it to 12 volts and possible 120 volts. How could this best be done, please and thank you.

Not easy. you can use a freerunning oscillator like a 555 to drive a set of transistors switches to switch the DC current push-pull through a center tapped transformer. The transformer will have to be designed or selected to match the frequency and voltage. 2 VDC is pretty low, so it will take a good design to do this without wasting a lot of power.

If you can find a transformer 120 VAC to 4 volts AC 10 amps center tapped, you could use that.

Can you use storage batteries? The concept would be to keep a series connected set of storage batteries charged with your 2 volts (time share the charging between the batteries).
