Wet wood is a good conductor. It has been known to rain sometimes in pasture lands, not located in Death Valley.

Go tell a farmer that wood fence posts are not good conductors and watch him laugh.

Because they find out early on that their cattle fencer will merely ground out if they don't use insulators on their fence posts.

Misleading statement, wood does conduct electricity albeit not as much as silver. Never hide under a tree during a thunder storm. I could tell you about swimming in a creek during a thunder storm but would take too much typing. The lightning bolts rattled my brain but I survived.
