Are the claims about WMD's just an excuse to invade a foreign country?

Well, I can't help but remember it was the President Clinton that claimed Iraq had them and now Secretary of State Clinton is saying that Syria has them. Maybe they moved them from Iraq to Syria before we went into Iraq.

You know; I really tried to cut down on my answers here, in part because I'm busy; but I only respond when I see a something that is really ignorant, as this question as well as vrzz' response. It could be that this question is purposely asking a ridiculous question just to see who answers against it; which I have seen before. But I am compelled to respond nonetheless.

No one wants to invade Syria; especially not the generally anti war Obama. The reports are merely over concern or a realistic reporting of how the situation is. And anyone who thinks Iran isn't a legitimate nuclear threat that we should be closely MONITORING (not necessarily attacking) just has no concept of the the reality of how the world is. In many ways nations represent the nature of mankind. Nations have ambitions and personal grudges and egos just like individual people do. In many ways game theory in international relations doesn't work as it assumes too much, most specifically that nations will always act rationally.

As for the comparison to Iraq (even outside of the theories that Iraq hid their weapons there in 2003), that argument that the WMD reports were fabricated in order to invade also is seriously flawed. The main reason for this is that FRANCE also thought that Saddam Hussein was developing WMD's (see a quote from former PM Jacques Chirac in the sourcebox.) And France didn't participate one iota in Operation Iraqi Freedom.

The problem is that as far as dangerous nuclear countries goes we are always focusing on the wrong nations. Sure we should keep abreast of happenings in Syria and Iran, but Pakistan; a nuclear nation, infested with Al Qaeda, that was engulfed in a CIVIL WAR that could have led to at best an unstable government and at worst terrorists having nukes, is a much more serious issue than anything in the past ten years.

First read the book SEAL TARGET GERONIMO, then ask your "question" again.

PS; In this book you'll discover, among many other things, the facts
that WMD existed and still might exist in Iraq.

Even in the wikileak release of secret documents you'll find reports of combat troops
in the field finding said WMD.

Those that want to play stupid and bury their heads in the ground like an ostrich
should first wear a gas-mask.

No.
Saddam hid his WMDs in Syria and the Democrats knew it all along. They just used the absence of WMD in Iraq for a political advantage.

Remember that the USA helped Afganistan in the 1980s when it Was invaded by Russia, so the Russians wanted payback and helped Iraq during the US invasion.

Yeah, and it's starting to wear a bit thin, and were getting sick of listening to it. Outside the US there's not even a mention in the newspaper, or even on TV.

Addition... I knew I'd get thumbs down by paranoid yanks in the USA who are sucked in by fake yellow journalism. This will answer your question the USA media is 100% faking Iran it's all BS. http://youtu.be/LRzSLSJ_JWM

Nope. As long as Obama is in office, we will not invade and occupy Syria.

If one of these bedwetting Republican whiners running for president, however, gets into the White House, we will see more war, more deficits, and more economic ruin. (Except for Ron Paul, but he has zero chance at the nomination).

Which is why it is important to keep Obama in the White House.
