1. Of the 24 students enrolled in a mathematics class,3 students are member of the math club these 3 students represent what percent of all of the students in the class?

2.A deposit of $500 is made in a savings account that pays 6% interest compounded annually.If no withdrawls or additional deposits are made,what will be the value of the account after 1 year? (hint:use I = prt.)

0.125 x 100 = 12.5%

2) 500x0.06=$30
500+30=$530

1. Since 24 is the total and 3 is the part, if we divide 3 by 24, then multiply the quotient by 100, you should get the percentage.
3/24 = 0.125
0.125 x 100 = 12.5 (%)

2. I don't exactly remember l=prt, but let me try.
A 6% increase is the same thing as 106% of the original number. (100% is whole, and a 6% increase from that.)
So, 6% increase from $500 (since the deposit was kept only for 1 year), would be 106% of $500...

500 x 1.06 = $530
