Why are there so many blood sugar/diabetes test kits advertised for medicare recipients on TV?

I mean this seems a little crazy. Especially considering medicare gets billed for them.

That's why: Medicare. Have you also seen the ads for scooters and shower rails? They say they'll bill to Medicare, too. The company's business model is to get its item paid for by Medicare and then advertise as much as possible to seniors. Most of the time these meters, scooters or what have you are a lot more expensive than one you could just buy yourself, but because Medicare pays, why not, right?

It's basically a scam, except the elderly aren't the ones being scammed. Taxpayers are and the US government is complicit.

Life style is often part of the issue. Life style changes now could delay or prevent you from getting diabetes later. Learn here https://tr.im/AFrTN

What you eat is not actually the cause of diabetes, but how you live can be. If you sit on the couch all day, your chances of developing diabetes goes up greatly.

Just do the best you can to not gain weight and to maintain an active life style and that will greatly help reduce some of your risks.

Because diabetes is very very common as we age and the manufacturers make most of their money on supplies like test strips not meters.
