Why are people discussing the new television show GCB in spirituality & religion like it is a serious debate?

The show is based on a fictitious book that mocks hypocrisy not Christianity. It also pokes fun at overeating and obsessions, grudges, high school cliques, class-ism, Texas, Texans, infidelity and a bunch of other stuff including booby bars, red bottom shoes, marts (for shopping for everything and I love me some K-Mart), ponzi schemes, and just about anything else you find in today's headlines. The spouting of religious texts is only funny because of the fact that these characters genuinely support their attitudes behind biblical words. The lessons are still there to be learned if you have half a brain.
None the less it is a television show to either be enjoyed or ignored that is why cable has over 1000 channels. You aren't forced to watch anything that insults your personal agenda.

I for one am offended/amused by its representation of Dallas.

The title itself is patently offensive to Christians. How would you feel about a show called "Good Black Bitches." Could you look past the outrageous stereotypes and see the lessons to be learned? Would you really see the the tasteless jokes as merely "poking fun?" How about "Obedient Muslim Bitches." You would have riioting in Middle Eastern countries and a Fatwa placed on your head.

Its the offensive title, if it was called boring show about Texas it wouldn't get air time.

Why would you think this forum is for serious debates in the first place?

I haven't seen anyone but you mention it. I don't watch it.
