How do i get 1080 pixel instead of 1080i and will there be a noticeable differance in the plcture.?

I have 1080i on panasonics and the picture is great. Just wondering if i can do this somehow and make the pictures better.

1080 p means progressive, not pixel
the difference between the two is that an interlaced picture is two sets of lines that alternate really quickly and progressive is both lines on at once, thus giving a clearer picture
