When will the watchtower stop printing books and having many "book studies" instead of Bible studies?

And further, my son, be admonished by these. Of making many books there is no end, and much study is wearisome to the flesh. Ecc. 12:12

    Its 'bait and switch'.

The catholic church mastered this 1200 years ago. It gets people out of the Bible and into nonsense. After a few years its no Bible and all nonsense.

  • Great question and brilliant scripture to support it.

Of course they will never stop publishing the literature, not until Armageddon. If they stopped studying their books and just used the Bible, millions would probably leave and the Governing body couldn't have that, could they?

For those who said that JW's do study the Bible and only use their books to support it, what utter nonsense.

When an interested person begins a so called Bible Study he reads the various chapters of the latest 'study aid', currently a book called 'What does the Bible really teach', or 'teach book' for short. The Bible is only used to support the teachings of the society, and, to that end they 'cherry pick isolated scriptures that appear to 'prove' they are right. So, for instance, if they are looking at Jesus, they choose scriptures that appear to deny his deity but carefully avoid touching on those that prove it.

At the end of each study section there are questions, the answers to which are all in the passages just read. The student is expected to use the given answers, if he does so he is congratulated and made to feel quite clever because he has discovered 'a bible truth' all on his own. If he answers differently then he has not quite 'seen the truth' and is gently brainwashed some more until he does.

How on earth can that be called a study of the Bible?

Some JW's might point out that they also study the Bible, one book at a time, but even this is done under guidance using yet another publication to make sure that they do not uncover anything that reveals the lies.

The Book Study is just a name given to one of the meetings each week that we get together in a smaller group to discuss certain topics in the Bible, by means of a publication. They do not replace the Bible. Which is why the scriptures are quoted or sited through out the publication. When we study in the homes with interested ones, that is called a Bible Study. If they were both called Bible Study, it would get confusing.

As far as when they will stop publishing literature? We are continually learning and refreshing our minds. We all need constant reminders to stay undefiled from the world. When that is not needed anymore, I'm sure it will stop. That is a time we all look forward too. Life in a cleansed world.

I'm sure when Ecc. 12:12 was written, it was not talking about studying or learning about the bible.

Jehovahs Witnesses are the most spiritually fed religious organisation in the world and speaking for myself I am soooo grateful to Jehovah for His provisions. All the many many publications that are printed and offered to interested persons FREE of charge are designed to help not only the public but Jehovah's people also to have a better understanding of the Scriptures and also most importantly are designed to help everyone draw closer to Jehovah God by learning about Him and His qualities and His underserved lovingkindness toward mankind. What does it matter what title is given the meetings?? Whether its called a 'book study' or 'bible study' or 'service meeting' etc etc?? We all gather to learn and appreciate all that Jehovah provides for us. It is only a shame that other religions cant and dont look after the spiritual welfare of their followers the same way. Lastly a more accurate rendering of Eccl.12:12 is "As regards anything besides these, my son, take a warning: To the making of many books there is no end, and much devotion [to them] is wearisome to the flesh."

When they decide that reading just the Bible without their books is OK.

    The Watchtower 8/15/81 pg 28-29:

"From time to time, there have arisen from among the ranks of Jehovah’s people those who, like the original Satan, have adopted an independent, faultfinding attitude. They do not want to serve “shoulder to shoulder” with the worldwide brotherhood. (Compare Ephesians 2:19-22.) Rather, they present a “stubborn shoulder” to Jehovah’s words. (Zech. 7:11, 12) Reviling the pattern of the “pure language” that Jehovah has so graciously taught his people over the past century, these haughty ones try to draw the “sheep” away from the one international “flock” that Jesus has gathered in the earth. (John 10:7-10, 16) They try to sow doubts and to separate unsuspecting ones from the bounteous “table” of spiritual food spread at the Kingdom Halls of Jehovah’s Witnesses, where truly there is ‘nothing lacking.’ (Ps. 23:1-6) They say that it is sufficient to read the Bible exclusively, either alone or in small groups at home. But, strangely, through such ‘Bible reading,’ they have reverted right back to the apostate doctrines that commentaries by Christendom’s clergy were teaching 100 years ago, and some have even returned to celebrating Christendom’s festivals again, such as the Roman Saturnalia of December 25! Jesus and his apostles warned against such lawless ones.—Matt. 24:11-13; Acts 20:28-30; 2 Pet. 2:1, 22."

Didn't Charles Taze Russell start the Witnesses by "read(ing) the Bible exclusively, either alone or in small groups at home"? But now, you can't get the truth from the Bible without the guidance of the Watchtower Society?

Who was guiding Russell?? Oh, right God. But that won't happen today.

    2 Peter 1:

19 We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts:

20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.

21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

Bible basics and prophecy are not given to a personal interpretation by a man or a group of men.

The bible righty divided, that is correctly interpreted, will stand in harmony with the Bible in whole and in part and so will not contradict any Scripture within it. Correct theology stands the test of time.

Bible understanding does not change but deepens. The extent of understanding widens in understanding yet does not change in direction.

If any teaching is at odds with any part of Scripture it is erroneous and so renders it a private interpretation.

Books that are written at the hand of men under demonic influence can be quite powerful in their delusion.

Those who oppose God attack and undermine the word of God and His Son whom He sent forth. The adversary is directly involved to cause as much confusion as possible so that the proper understanding, teaching, and making of disciples is barricaded and made as difficult as possible.

This is one of the reasons it is important to study the history of so-called religious groups. These so-called teachers have a history of false prophets and false prophecies and predictions.

    You serious!!!!

They cannot study the Bible becuase doing so will reveal exactly who Jesus Christ is and also they will find Salvation in Jesus Christ. Doing watchtower studies they can cut out whatever does not fit into their teachings.

Also watchtower mind control studies are exactly the way watchtower likes it and this way can control the millions of its members so easily. They all think the same act the same because allm have had the same mind control techniques done to them and you try to tell this to them and you will see that they will reject it becuase they are blinded by watchtower. What a clever organization that has fooled so many for the devil

    Good question!

When will they give up on a false translation of the Bible and give up on the heresies that they teach?

When will they let their members be free in Christ?

When will they admit all the false prophecies that were made?

When will they see the real prophecies of the scriptures and the real GOD of the bible?

When will they research what and why they believe like I do every day?

When will they look at other teachings with an open heart and question if they are right?

When will they stop murdering their own by condemning blood transfusions?

They can still repent and turn back to the GOD of the Bible and the LORD Jesus Christ!

Whilst this world we live in today exists ,never i hope.

I am baptized church of England , i have studied the catholics , lds , bahai and other religions christian and non christian.

The WTBTS publish books that both make bible study easy and logical , they also give a sense of direction where the study is going.

Every book i have read is lead by scripture.

Many other books i have read on bible subjects give the writers opinion , not the bibles.

I must admit i look forward to the time when the WTBTS is not needed.

I felt i knew the bible well but thanks to the JW's i can now say i feel i am starting to understand what i know.

Jehovah's Witnesses are truly the the only religion with bible truths.

I was so stupid i used to think all religion was false because they believed in the stupid idea of the trinity which makes no sense to anyone with half a brain.

THANK YOU WTBTS without you i would be as blind as the asker of this question..

Edit i have been studying for about 4 months now & i love it.
