I never really attend things like this, but I was invited to a formal lunch with my guy-friend's family this Sunday and I really don't know what to wear to such thing. I mean, if it was a dinner then I would just wear a long gown, but for a 1PM lunch? I'm completely lost. Any help will be greatly appreciated :)

You can't go wrong with a basic black cocktail dress and heels. nothing too revealing mind you, it is lunch so it shouldn't be more then 1-2 inches above the knee and not too much cleavage. Also a coat or cardigan would be appropriate.
Otherwise your best bet is to ask your friend what his sisters or mother would normally wear.
