my laptop is about 2.5 years old. it has a 9-cell battery
according to a system scan, the battery has 68% (58.83/86.58 Wh) of its designed capacity. I currently get about 3.5hrs use (Brand new i got 7.25hrs.) It holds a charge, for now.
What is the recommended percentage to replace L-Ion Batteries?
Should i buy a new battery (MSRP $190)? i am planning to sell it ($500+, originally $2700) and get a better Laptop by Fall 2012.

The best time to replace li-ion batteries is when they don't hold a charge long enough for you to do something with them!
It is all up to you.
But keep in mind, the BEST practice is to very, very, VERY rarely discharge your battery to 0%. In the best case, you should never do that.
I have my "critical battery level" set to 25%
If you have your charge/discharge cycles at 25-100%, that will prologue your battery life. Additionally, store your battery at around 70% charge if you aren't going to use it for a week or so.
Additionally, I bought a laptop battery that is 5-6 years old. It lasts for 3 hours, because it was cared for properly with charge/discharge cycles.
