Sarkozy LOST to a real socialist who plans to meet with Merkel asap; what does this mean for Germany?

And Germany's place in the European Union? Should the rest of Europe be nervous? Elated? Is it time to start socking away food & fuel for an even greater economic downturn? (This is in Travel -- Germany because I'm interested in German opinions.)

As I clearly stated: I posted this here because I want to hear from politically aware Germans who, as far as I can figure from looking in those other sections suggested, do NOT frequent those areas. (Politics & government is almost exclusively American!). It's a legitimate question. I expect(ed) legitimate (and informed) answers.

Take out your magnifier to make sure that you find the changes that will happen even in France. You will need a microscope if you want to see changes in Europe.
The time of the big words is over now. There are two things that are forbidden even in a fervid election campaign - to fish for French votes, calling the person who has been designated to pay the mess a Bismarck-style autocrat, and to interfere with a foreign election campaign in return. These are the two things they will have to talk about asap, indeed.

I can see France turning into another Spain after they elected a Socialist. Now it is an economic wreck. I have no idea what that meeting will be about.
