Extra virgin coconut oil vs. fish oil?
I have an American Pit Bull Terrier and a Yorkie mix. I tend to switch off between the two, so my question which of the two is better? If I were to give both to them would it be too much?
BTW: If it matters the fish oil is in tablet form and the coconut oil is in liquid form. The Coconut oil is 100% cold pressured, unrefined, organic oil. The fish oil is 100% salmon oil.
@Elaine, I don't feed my boys cod liver oil. I give Salmon and Coconut oil
@Al I started giving this to my Pit Bull because he had a yeast infection on his paws. The vet recommended steroid injections. He ended up having an adverse reaction to the injection. I started reading online and saw a few suggestions to feed unrefined coconut oil because it would help clear it up, so I started giving him 3 tablespoons at night. After about 2 months of using this in conjunction with topical vet soak the yeast is gone and hasn't returned. It also helped their coats. It's a lot shinier, softer, and I notice less shedding from the both of them. I've researched the benefits of feeding coconut oil to dogs as well as the benefits of the Salmon, but I can't decide which of the two is better.
