Extra virgin coconut oil vs. fish oil?

I have an American Pit Bull Terrier and a Yorkie mix. I tend to switch off between the two, so my question which of the two is better? If I were to give both to them would it be too much?

BTW: If it matters the fish oil is in tablet form and the coconut oil is in liquid form. The Coconut oil is 100% cold pressured, unrefined, organic oil. The fish oil is 100% salmon oil.

Update:

@Elaine, I don't feed my boys cod liver oil. I give Salmon and Coconut oil

Update 2:

@Al I started giving this to my Pit Bull because he had a yeast infection on his paws. The vet recommended steroid injections. He ended up having an adverse reaction to the injection. I started reading online and saw a few suggestions to feed unrefined coconut oil because it would help clear it up, so I started giving him 3 tablespoons at night. After about 2 months of using this in conjunction with topical vet soak the yeast is gone and hasn't returned. It also helped their coats. It's a lot shinier, softer, and I notice less shedding from the both of them. I've researched the benefits of feeding coconut oil to dogs as well as the benefits of the Salmon, but I can't decide which of the two is better.

There is a huge difference between omega fish oil (salmon) and cod liver oil. Cod liver oil is far heavier and makes the liver work harder, which can stress some animals considerably. Stick with the salmon oil.

They usually recommend flax oil, primrose oil or even canola oil over coconut oil, for ease of digestion. A dog would not need much, 1/4 tsp for the smaller dog twice a week is enough. Double that for the larger dog.

To what purpose would you feed your dogs coconut oil? I am not aware of any benefits. Fish oil on the other hand is great for all kinds of things apparently, such as healthy coat, brain function, cartilage etc etc. I would suggest to make sure that your fish oil does not contain added vitamin A, as I believe that dogs can't cope with this.

I feed my labradoodle one capsule a day. He sits waiting for it and loves chewing it until it bursts, then licks all the oil off the floor.... not advisable if you have carpets :)
