What is this insect?!?

Last night this THING crawled on my back/neck... I went to kill it and I noticed it was like a "cow ant"... and those things are really hard to kill. I had to hit it like 10-15 different times before it stopped moving. It also made this angry hissing sound (I obviously can't make the sound).

Here is the picture of this thing: http://i47.tinypic.com/vymg04.jpg

His body is like a dark brown/black color with copper/gold speckles. He's not a beetle because his whole body isn't hard. Please someone help me figure out what this is so I can have some closure.

It is a longhorn beetle, family Cerambycidae. There are a great variety of longhorn beetles and I do not recognize this specific species. Learn more here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Longhorn_beetle

They are harmless to people, and are vegetarians usually feeding on dead or dying plants, usually trees. They hissing sound you describe is a vibration is can make called stridulation. I would suggest next time just letting something like this go since it can't hurt you and there is no real reason to kill it.
