Can you appeal a suspended license for possession in Oregon?

I was pulled over for having my fog lights on in Eugene, and the officer smelled weed in my car. I only had $15 worth, and handed it over immediately with no issues. I got a ticket (minor violation) for possession, but no DUI or anything else. When I went to court to pay the fine, they suspended my license for six months. This seems crazy. Can I appeal this somehow? I can't afford to do an SR22 / hardship permit, but I need to commute for college this fall.

Yes, you can appeal it ,however, you'll lose and then have court cost added to your financial worries. The law is clear. The Officer stopped you with a traffic violation. The weed is prohibited and it was in your possession. In accordance with Or law, it is within the judges discretion to suspend your license for the offense. What is there to appeal.
