So Eric Holder and the Dept of Justice decide not to prosecute Goldman Sachs.. is it just about money?
the SEC already fine Goldman Sachs 550 million dollars. The Senate Investigation committe under Carl Levin said among other things that Sachs "..created conflicts of interest with the firm’s clients and at times led to the bank’s profiting from the same products that caused substantial losses for its clients.”
Levin Said they misled congress and investors.
Yet the DOJ released a statment saying that there is not a viable basis for criminal prosecution of Goldan Sachs or its employees. Eric Holder defended the DOJ saying they had brought 2100 matters involving mortgages in the DOJ and the nottion that they are being inactive in the matter is troublesome.
The administration was quick to fine Goldman Sachs but isnt going to try and prosecute them.....
Goldman Sachs made 75% of its political donations to Obama and the DNC in 2008, this year they have given 70% of their donations to republicans.
Taking it easy on Goldman Sachs to try and get some money back into the campaign coffers perhaps?
Is it just about the money? do they really care about punishing abuses on Wall Street?
