Question related to malware?

A while ago I had some malware troubles with my computer. I've since taken care of the malware itself and that's no longer an issue.

Since then, however, all of the options in my start menu have disappeared. I still have all of my programs and icons on my background but I can't access anything from my start menu, which has been a bit of a pain. I know nothing was actually uninstalled from the computer, so I'm hoping there's some way that I can get my menu back.

Any help would be greatly appreciated :)

I still have my background icons. Everything from the start menu is gone, and many of the things I had in my start menu did not have icons so I can't access them.

From your description, I'm not sure this will be of any use...but it's worth a try:

Hope this helps.

It is possible this is a "Registry" issue. Malware is well known to cause dll corruption and other file damage that remains after the infection is cured. I suspect that your computer's Registry is the problem. I suggest using a tool such as Ccleaner to correct the invalid Registry Entries and this may restore your Operating System to it normal state.

The previous answer's advice is Excellent and should work. But if it does not investigate the Registry as the problem as I do not understand why all the options in the Start Menu should universally disappear. In my opinion this points to a secondary issue related to the original malware issue.

Good Luck.

Just drag the icons to your Start Menu from your background Icons.
