I wouldn't just assume that you could use a new operating system simply because you ran Vista which is pretty old. Also, knowing that Microsoft increases it's demand on your computer resources with every release leaves this to be a very valid question. The interface on Windows 8 kind of annoys me because unlike older versions of Windows if there was a sudden change in the Graphical User Interface you could select whether you wanted to use Classic or newer version. I would definitely use the link provided by the other guy to verify your computer is fully compatible. Before giving your computer a make over go to Best Buy or any computer store that will allow you to gain experience with the Operating System before spending your money. If you enjoy your user experience I would highly suggest upgrading Vista was a terrible operating system. I just urge you to use the new operating system before jumping into it because they have made huge changes.

If it runs Vista it will run 8 with no problem (Should be quicker aswell). The laptops quite a good one as well so you will have full functionality
